Someone trips on the stairs. Do you know which routine applies?
The question comes round once a year, always at the wrong moment.

Risk assessment with documented risks
AFS 2023:1 section 11
In plain terms: work environment management is meant to run continuously rather than be done after something happens. And you have to be able to show that it runs.
From ten employees, four things have to exist in writing: a work environment policy, routines for how the work is done, an allocation of duties setting out who is responsible for what, and the annual follow-up.
The risk assessment has no size threshold. With five people it still has to be documented, naming the risks and whether they are serious.
Do any of these sound familiar?
- Is it written down who runs the safety inspection, and how often?
- Who has work environment duties assigned to them, in writing?
- Where is this year’s follow-up written down?

Is a work environment policy enough?
The policy is only where it starts. A policy with no follow-up is a wish list.
Olle Nordberg, business development and co-founder, answers the question we get most. A safety committee is required at fifty people regularly employed per workplace, not per company. Occupational health services are needs-based and not triggered by a given size.
